Field Operations Specialist

Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for safe, reliable application of crop nutrients and crop protection products for farm accounts and customers

Essential Functions
Custom Applicator:
  • Communicate daily activities, needs and accomplishments with agronomy operations supervisor.
  • Apply agronomy products to customer’s fields as recommended.
  • Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Assist with outbound and inbound agronomy products.
  • Operate all equipment and vehicles according to Belgrade Coop policy and procedures along with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure safety compliance.
  • Maintain and record maintenance of application equipment, tending equipment, NH3 equipment, pickups and side dress units.
  • Record field application logs.
  • Assist with delivery of dry and liquid fertilizer, NH3 and crop protection products as assigned by agronomy operations supervisor.
  • Provide courteous customer service

This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time/seasonal position with potential for full-time employment with the right candidate. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a requirement of extra hours during spring and summer application season and fall drying season.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience
Custom Applicator:
  • 1-3 year experience of operating farm machinery.
  • Commercial CDL driver’s license with tanker and hazardous endorsement.
  • Commercial applicator’s license from Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two year vocational training.
  • Customer service experience
