The Sales Agronomist is involved in customer planning, sales, service, reporting, budgeting, forcasting, and sound agronomic reccommendations to our owner memebers. They will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork while displaying a professional image for Belgrade Cooperative. 

Essential Functions (Other duties may also be assigned)

• Manage and maintain a list of customers and prospects.
• Create and recommend specific agronomy programs to targeted accounts with the goal of increasing agronomy business while identifying all opportunities for growth.
• Spend a majority of time in the country making regular sales calls on current grower members as well as making cold calls on potential new customers.
• Recommend products based on customer needs.
• Make sound agronomic recommendations to growers.
• Maintain sales contracts and bookings.
• Prepare a comprehensive annual sales plan.
• Manage sales in order to achieve target margins and product mix.
• Work with the agronomy manager and agronomy sales to establish the agronomy budget.
• Attends sales seminars, sales meetings or educational activities to stay up-to-date on the latest developments, trends and regulations in the marketplace.
• Utilize the current CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool to log and organize sales call information.
• Spend time with grower evaluating current year variety selection, pest control management, and in-season fertility.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. 
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required in-season to meet business demand.
Travel
Some travel is expected for this position. However, travel is primarily local and during the business day.
Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture related field, marketing, business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires industry exposure and interest with some prior sales experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Certified Crop Advisor.
• CDL with Haz Mat and other DOT qualifications for operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
• 1 to 3 years of agronomy sales experience.

This position requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must meet the qualifications set forth in our motor vehicle safety policy.
